The ‘Love Island’ Cast Gets 1 Day Off per Week and They Have to Follow Super Specific Rules During It

Love Island UK and Love Island USA both keep pretty grueling schedules: once the cast sets foot in the Villa, they’re on camera pretty much 24/7 for six weeks as the show films and airs on a roughly two-day delay. So…do they ever get time off to decompress?

Yep!

The casts get exactly one day off from filming per week and have to follow very specific rules: they can’t talk about the show. At all.

Kem Cetinay (who won Love Island UK in 2017) said, “They get one day off a week. What happens is it gives them a day to clean the villa and you take your mics off and normally we go to the beach and we just chill out. Not a lot of people know this. What happens is when you take your mics off, you’re not allowed to talk about anything to do with the show. You’ve got to talk about home life. You’re being watched by an evil hawk, by the producers because they don’t want you to talk about what’s going on.”

Georgia Steel from 2018 also noted that “the boys and the girls are split up” so relationships don’t grow or change off camera, and on top of that, the cast is chaperoned by production, who are there to make sure nothing dramatic is happening.

FYI, the cast’s one day off appears to be Saturday, which is when Aftersun airs!
