Kendall Jenner’s 2026 Met Gala Gown Was Molded From a White Gap T-Shirt (Exclusive)
More From the Met Steps
· CosmopolitanKendall Jenner just floated onto the 2026 Met Gala red carpet looking positively divine in a Grecian-like white gown crafted by Zac Posen for GapStudio. I’ll give you a moment to process because it is truly out of this world beautiful…and it all started with a classic Gap tee.
“We began with something very simple, a white Gap T-shirt, and started to manipulate it, pulling and draping to echo the movement you see in carved parian marble,” Zac told Cosmopolitan exclusively in a statement.

“The T-shirt is a wardrobe essential, it moves with the body, and that felt aligned with the spirit of the theme. From there it became very tactile—jersey, molded leather, draping—to create something fluid, sculptural, and alive.”

Reminder: this year’s Met Gala theme is “Costume Art” and the dress code is “Fashion Is Art.” There is simply no denying that Kendall’s dress qualifies as art, especially given its origin story, so mission accomplished!
The supermodel recently did a closet tour with Vogue, telling the magazine she makes pretty different style choices from her famous sisters.
“When it comes to style within my family, at least, I have different style choices than some of them,” she said, adding, “Sometimes I'll definitely walk into a family dinner and one or two of them will be like, ‘This is cool, what is this? A little side-eye action.’”
That said, she "could care less" what her sisters think, and said, “When I love something, I love something.”
