Overheating in a sweater or cardigan? Us too. Sure, the sky might be full of grey clouds, but the temperature hasn't quite got the fall memo. Meaning, despite our desire to wear knitwear, jackets and all things cozy, we're often left sweating within five minutes of leaving the house.

The answer? A knit vest. From a practical point of view, the sleeveless style ticks the knitwear box while allowing for plenty of ventilation. However, if you often prioritize fashion over function (guilty!), you'll be pleased to hear the fall/winter 2026 runways confirmed the knit tank's status as a core layering essential. Zimmermann showcased a classic chunky cable knit vest with slouchy shoulders and a deep V-neckline that channelled heritage cricket knits. Meanwhile, Chanel played with proportions, opting for a thigh-skimming design to create a drop-waist silhouette.
