After confirming its existence last week, Redmi has now announced the launch date for the K90 Ultra. Alongside the announcement, the company has also revealed the phone's design and confirmed several of its key features.

The Redmi K90 Ultra will be unveiled in China on June 30, the company confirmed via a post on Weibo.

Redmi's upcoming K90 series smartphone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. However, the company claims it can match, or even outperform, devices equipped with the newer Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC in gaming performance.

According to Redmi, this is thanks to the built-in active cooling fan, which is said to lower the device's temperature by up to 10°C in just 100 seconds.

Redmi also revealed that the K90 Ultra is also full-grade dust and waterproof. The phone is confirmed to sport a 6.83-inch display with slim bezels, an aluminum alloy middle frame, and dual-rear cameras.

The phone is teased in a Space Silver color option with a raised rectangular camera plateau that also houses the cooling fan.

Redmi claims the K90 Ultra can sustain 60fps at the highest graphics settings for 60 minutes without throttling, while Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5-powered phones are said to begin throttling after 20 minutes.

The company also says the phone can maintain 144fps in a MOBA game for up to 180 minutes at an ambient temperature of 30°C without throttling. By comparison, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 devices are claimed to start throttling after 35 minutes.

Redmi has also confirmed that the K90 Ultra will be priced in the CNY 3,000 (around $440) segment. We expect the brand to reveal more details about the smartphone ahead of its launch next week.
