This is the first phone to use MediaTek's new all big core Dimensity 8400

MediaTek just unveiled the Dimensity 8400 earlier today. It's the world's first upper-midrange Android chipset with an all big core CPU, emulating the strategy that made its debut at the high-end with the Dimensity 9300 last year.

Following the chip's announcement, Redmi proudly boasts that the Redmi Turbo 4 will be the first phone to be powered by the new SoC. The device will use the Dimensity 8400-Ultra platform actually, because Xiaomi brands love to customize MediaTek chips with an added "Ultra" suffix.

The Redmi Turbo 4 is promised to get the first launch of 2025, so it should be fully official in very early January. Ahead of that, the brand will start taking blind pre-reservations today.

The Redmi Turbo 4 will launch in China, but it will get rebranded internationally either as Poco F7 or Poco X7 Pro - rumors have been a bit contradictory on the topic as of late. The good news is that, regardless of what name Poco chooses to use for it, we will get this upper-midrange performance beast outside of China.

Thanks to its all big core CPU, the Dimensity 8400 will probably end the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3's undisputed reign as the king of the upper-midrange, which has been going on for quite a while already.
