Oppo Reno15 Pro (for India) hands-on

We managed to snag a quick hands-on with the new Reno15 series during Oppo's special global launch event. This is a quick look at the Indian Reno15 Pro, which will retail as the Reno15 Pro Max in some other regions.

To avoid confusion, the Indian Reno15 Pro is a 6.78-inch phone, while the Indian Reno15 Pro Mini (a 6.32-inch model) is referred to as the Reno15 Pro outside of India.

Here's the lineup in India - you have the Reno15 Pro Mini on the left (called Reno15 Pro in the rest of the world), then the Reno15 in the middle, and the Reno15 Pro (called the Reno15 Pro Max outside of India), on the right.

The Reno15 and Reno15 Pro Mini models have an interesting texture on the back, which has a lustre effect when it catches light the right way. The Reno15 Pro, on the other hand, has a clean matte finish. It's pleasant to the touch and fights off smudges and fingerprints.

The Reno15 Pro has a full range of cameras on the back, starting with a 24mm f/1.8 wide-angle with a 200MP sensor. Next is an 85mm (3.5x) f/2.8 telephoto with a 50MP sensor, and another 50MP sensor behind the 16mm f/2.0 ultrawide with autofocus. There's yet another 50MP sensor upfront for the 18mm f/2.0 selfie camera.

Design-wise, the 1.8mm AG glass camera island is one with the rear panel. Oppo calls it sculpted glass. There are a few different finishes under the glass that give off different reflections. Oppo says the square ring around the camera module can almost glow softly when light hits it. It's an interesting take on glass; we like it.

The screen on the Indian Pro is a 6.78-inch unit with a 1272x2772px resolution and a 120Hz AMOLED panel that maxes out at 1,800 nits.

The phone feels solid, yet it's still and noticeably light. It's just 7.65mm thin and weighs 205g.

Specs-wise, the Reno15 Pro (or Pro Max outside of India) packs a 4nm Dimensity 8450 with up to 12GB of RAM. Storage is either 256GB or 512GB.

The Reno15 Pro is INR 67,999 for the 12/256GB model, and INR 72,999 for the 12/512GB one.
