The aircraft has landed safely, and all the standard security and emergency protocols are presently being followed at the airport.
Protocol For Immediate Diversion And Security
The flight took off from Madinah and was bound for Hyderabad when the threat was relayed to the airline and aviation authorities. According to standard operating procedure in cases involving such a serious security threat, the aircraft was immediately diverted to the nearest safe airport.
An official statement released by IndiGo confirmed the incident: "It's the Madinah to Hyderabad route. The flight was diverted to Ahmedabad, and standard protocol will be followed."
High Alert At Ahmedabad Airport
Upon landing, the aircraft was taken to a remote bay. A BTAC comprising experts that handle such situations, Quick Reaction Teams, fire and emergency services, and squads of bomb disposal experts have been sent to the location.
Presently, security personnel are conducting a thorough search and sanitisation operation of the aircraft, passengers, and baggage in order to establish the authenticity of the threat. Further details of the nature of the threat and the number of passengers on board are awaited.
Emergency Protocol Activated
After the receipt of the security threat, emergency protocol required the pilot to divert the plane to the nearest safe airport. Ahmedabad was chosen as the diversion airport.
