Margot Robbie-Narrated ‘Galapagos: The Last Eden’ Trailer Unveiled Ahead of Venice Immersive Bow (EXCLUSIVE)

The trailer for “Galapagos: The Last Eden,” an immersive experience narrated by Margot Robbie, has been unveiled ahead of the project’s premiere in the Venice Film Festival‘s Immersive strand.

Directed by Anthony Geffen and produced by Atlantic Studios, the production hails from the U.K. and is presented in English.

“‘Galapagos: The Last Eden’ brings the audience a new kind of an immersive storytelling,” Geffen said. “We use a new kind of 3-D camera technology and shooting techniques to capture Galapagos in a totally new way.”

The experience lets viewers reach out and interact with what they are seeing, following the volcanic activity that formed the islands as well as the evolution and behavior of its animal life. New technology also allows users to personalize the journey by holding a conversation with Charles Darwin, drawn from his own experiences of the archipelago.

The project also foregrounds conservation. Geffen noted that the experience shows the science and conservation work carried out on the islands, work he said is essential given the toll El Niño is set to take on the islands this year. He added that Robbie was cast as narrator because of her personal connection to the islands and her enthusiasm for the format.

Robbie first visited the Galápagos Islands at 18 and said she was completely captivated. When she was introduced to the XR technology behind the project, she said its potential for a fresh kind of storytelling was clear to her right away, offering audiences a new way to experience the Galápagos while building a personal bond with the islands’ wildlife and fragile ecosystem.

“As climate change, particularly El Niño, continues to threaten this remarkable environment, it’s more important than ever to understand the vital role conservation plays in protecting one of the world’s most important ecosystems,” Robbie said. “I’m proud to be part of a project that brings that story to life and inspires people to care about its future.”

“Galapagos: The Last Eden” is set in the Venice Immersive section of the festival, which showcases XR and immersive works alongside the main cinema lineup.
