Microdrama Platform ReelShort Teams With Thailand’s AIS in First Southeast Asia Telco Deal

by · Variety

Microdrama platform ReelShort has entered Southeast Asia through a partnership with Advanced Info Service (AIS), Thailand‘s leading 5G network provider, tapping the country as a strategic base for broader expansion across the region.

The co-branded 5G ReelShort add-on package – priced at THB39 ($1.15) per month against the platform’s standard THB599 ($17.50) rate – gives AIS prepaid and postpaid subscribers full VIP access to the ReelShort library with no advertising, daily episode releases and bundled 5G connectivity. The deal marks ReelShort’s first telco alliance in Southeast Asia.

ReelShort arrives in Thailand carrying a library of close to 3,000 titles, spanning romance, CEO drama, Chinese series and plot-twist fare. Titles including “Bound By Honor,” “True Heiress vs. Fake Queen Bee” and “Move Aside! I’m the Final Boss” have each accumulated hundreds of millions of views on the platform. Thai-language access is already substantial, with around 300 fully dubbed titles and more than 1,000 carrying Thai subtitles.

Joey Jia, CEO of Crazy Maple Studio, which owns ReelShort, described Southeast Asia as “one of the most exciting and competitive mobile entertainment markets globally” and said the AIS partnership would deliver the platform’s mobile-first storytelling to millions of Thai consumers. “Thailand is just the beginning of ReelShort’s much broader regional expansion strategy,” Jia added.

Lertchai Kodsup, chief mobile business officer of AIS, said the deal reflects the telco’s drive to integrate its network infrastructure with content. “ReelShort is a global leader in the vertical short-drama market,” Kodsup said, pointing to the platform’s catalog of more than 2,700 vertical series with Thai subtitles and dubbing. He said the collaboration would give AIS customers access to world-class content “aligned with modern lifestyles that demand fast, easy-to-watch entertainment anytime, anywhere.”

A two-month nationwide marketing push – the largest ReelShort has undertaken in Southeast Asia – will accompany the launch, drawing on influencer tie-ups, joint advertising, digital outreach and in-store promotions to build awareness across Thailand.

The deal also marks the first transaction completed by AR Asia Productions since its appointment as ReelShort’s exclusive distribution representative in the region.

Crazy Maple Studio is headquartered in Silicon Valley. AIS serves more than 52 million customers in Thailand, including 46.8 million on its 5G mobile network.
