‘The Daily Show’ Goes to New Orleans as Jordan Klepper Celebrates America 250 With a Drunk Pirate (EXCLUSIVE)

The Daily Show” host Jordan Klepper went down South to celebrate America’s 250th birthday for a new installment of “Jordan Klepper Fingers the Pulse.”

Airing during tonight’s episode of “The Daily Show,” the segment finds the host in New Orleans during Sail250, a traveling maritime celebration featuring ships and military vessels. Klepper wanders the streets talks to people about the state of America and the current political administration. Along the way, he finds people dressed in stars and stripes, and a boozed-up man in a pirate costume.

“I would give America a nice, tall mug of common sense,” the man tells Klepper, holding up a metal cup.

“It doesn’t smell like common sense,” Klepper responds, before the man offers him some of his drink. Klepper declines: “I usually wait until after 5 to have my common sense.”

“Jordan Klepper Fingers the Pulse” is Klepper’s hallmark series on “The Daily Show.” Last year, he won an Emmy for writing for a nonfiction program for the half-hour special “The Daily Show Presents: Jordan Klepper Fingers The Pulse: MAGA: The Next Generation.” His latest special “Jordan Klepper Fingers the Pulse: Give the Man a Prize” is eligible for this year’s awards ceremony.

Klepper is one of a handful of hosts of “The Daily Show,” which airs on Comedy Central at 11 p.m. ET. Michael Kosta hosts tonight, and the other anchors include Jon Stewart, Desi Lydic, Ronny Chieng and Josh Johnson.
