by · Variety

Airbnb is launching an exclusive Lollapalooza fan experience that will take guests behind the scenes of the Chicago music festival.

The experience, announced by Airbnb Wednesday morning, will be led by longtime festival producer Tim Sweetwood and will give attendees access to parts of the festival that are usually closed to the public, including artist areas, production zones and other backstage spaces. Guests will also be able to watch performances from the Airbnb stage during the festival.

Sweetwood is the founder of several U.S. music festivals, including Shaky Knees, Sea.Hear.Now, Oceans Calling, Country Calling and Boardwalk Rock.

This year’s Lollapalooza is scheduled to take place July 30 through Aug. 2 at Grant Park in Chicago. The four-day festival will feature more than 170 artists, with a lineup that includes Charli XCX, The Smashing Pumpkins, The xx, Lorde, Olivia Dean, Tate McRae, John Summit and JENNIE. Tickets are still available here.

The Airbnb experience is part of the company’s broader effort to connect travel bookings with live events and entertainment. According to Airbnb, searches by out-of-state travelers for Chicago stays during Lollapalooza weekend are up nearly 20% compared to last year, while Gen Z searches are up 15%. The company also said Chicago hosts earned more than $6.4 million during Lollapalooza weekend in 2025.

“Live music has become one of the biggest drivers of travel today, and Lollapalooza is a perfect example, bringing fans from across the country and around the world to Chicago every summer,” Juan David Borrero, Airbnb’s global head of partnerships and business development, said in a statement. “Through our global partnership, we’re giving guests access to something truly special: exclusive backstage experiences at one of the world’s most iconic festivals, paired with everything they need to make their time in the city just as memorable as the music.”

Airbnb is also promoting other Chicago Experiences and Services around the festival weekend, including a Thai massage, a private dinner with an Italian chef, a Spanish tapas and flamenco experience, a donut-and-coffee tour, a mole-making class, a walking tour of the Loop and a street-art workshop.
