At the end of March, Sonos released a new home speaker to its growing roster of audio gear. It promises excellent home audio and portability at the same time.
Priced at $299, the Sonos Play is the company’s latest wireless speaker that delivers the same level of premium audio quality, in which Sonos is known.

At just over 7.5 inches tall, the Sonos Play sits at the middle of the company’s home lineup with the audio punch of the larger Sonos Move 2 and the portability of the smaller Sonos Roam 2. It even has a rubber loop on its back, so you can pick it up with just one finger or secure it to a backpack with a carabiner to take it with you just about anywhere.

The wireless speaker does produce outstanding audio, thanks to its three digital amplifiers with precision tuning, a pair of tweeters for crisp and clear sound and one midwoofer for deep bass and vocal depth. It features the company’s “Automatic Trueplay” for the best sound quality possible with automatic tuning via the Sonos app and its built-in far-field microphone for indoor or outdoor use.
And since it’s from Sonos, it can be paired with any other Sonos speaker system (including another Sonos Play for stereo sound) for deeper immersion in your home or on-the-go. In fact, it streams over Wi-Fi at home or connects via Bluetooth anywhere else. It’s one of the advantages of going with Sonos compared to any other audio brand — it’s just seamless and easy.

Meanwhile, the Sonos Play is durable, waterproof and dustproof, as it’s designed to be drop-resistant with responsible and recycled materials against accidents and mishaps. It has a long battery life of up to 24 hours of playback per charge. Just place it back on its wireless charging base for more juice when it gets low.
At $299, the Sonos Play is out now and available to shop at Sonos.com, Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy and other retailers. It comes with a wireless charging dock, a power cable and a quick start guide, while it also comes in black and white models.
