Ryan Murphy Says He ‘Just Finished the Script’ for a ‘Glee’ Reboot and Has Spoken to the Original Cast: ‘They All Were Very Enthusiastic’

It’s a good day to be a Gleek. Following long-swirling rumors of a potential “Glee” reboot, creator Ryan Murphy has officially weighed in and revealed that there’s a script.

“Well, funny you ask, ’cause I just finished the script an hour ago,” Murphy told Entertainment Tonight on Wednesday. “So, we have a script. Brad [Falchuk], Ian [Brennan] and I, who wrote all the first two seasons, have written something. I’ve been in touch with around 10 of the original cast members. It’s very sweet, and they all had a lot of questions, but they all were very enthusiastic about the idea.”

The news comes just a week after Lea Michele, who played Rachel Berry for all six seasons of the musical comedy, said that she’d be happy to return for a reboot. Speaking with E! News, she said, “I love ‘Glee.’ I will always love ‘Glee.’ I love Ryan Murphy. It just holds such a special place in my heart for me… I will follow Ryan wherever he goes.”

Speaking of the reboot, Murphy noted that although there is a script, “nobody’s read it.” “So I don’t know, we’ll see,” he continued. “I vowed to myself that I wanted to write a couple of them to see what people think, particularly the cast, ’cause we were very close when we were making it.”

“Glee” first premiered in Sept. 2009, and in addition to Michele, starred Corey Monteith, Naya Rivera, Dianna Agron, Matthew Morrison, Jane Lynch, Heather Morris, Chris Colfer and more.
