‘Mickey Mouse Club’ Returns: Disney Orders Pilot for Reboot of Iconic Kids Show That Starred Young Britney Spears, Ryan Gosling

There’s a new group of Mouseketeers.

“The Mickey Mouse Club” is eyeing a revival, as Disney+ has ordered a pilot for a reboot of the classic kids program. Originally launched in 1955 before undergoing several iterations, the show is responsible for discovering and launching young talent including Britney Spears, Ryan Gosling, Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera.

The new squad of youngsters anchoring the reboot pilot are “Camp Rock 3” cast members Hudson Stone, Casey Trotter and Brooklynn Pitts, as well as Erianthe Akaata (“Young Rock”), Scarlett London Diviney (“The Lion King”), Michael Cash (“Black Rabbit”), Yonas Kibreab (“Elio”), Varonica Mitchell, Kauani, Scarlett Grace Petty and Carter Barnes.

Production on the pilot begins this month in Los Angeles. It’s produced by Fullwell Entertainment with executive producers Ben Winston, Ashley Edens, Emma Conway Dave Piendak.

Should it be ordered to series, the reboot aims to serve as a showcase for young performers. Similar to past iterations, music will play a large role in the variety program.
