“Last trip before Raya” – Lorry Driver’s Excuse for Unsecured Load Fails, JPJ Kedah Issues Summons
by Didi · WORLD OF BUZZThe Road Transport Department (JPJ) has been carrying out operations across various districts ahead of the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.
While enforcement officers have been working around the clock for Ops Hari Raya patrols, the JPJ team in Kedah recently intercepted a vehicle that posed a significant risk to road safety.
Hazardous transport
A lorry driver caught carrying a hazardous load of rubberwood in Kedah claimed it was his “last trip” before the holidays. According to a Facebook post by JPJ Kedah, the lorry was spotted and stopped on the roads of Kuala Nerang on 17 March.
The driver was travelling along Jalan Pong Manis at approximately 6 PM when he was pulled over. He attempted to justify the dangerous haul by claiming it was his final delivery before the Hari Raya break.
“The excuse of making a ‘last trip’ before Hari Raya didn’t save a lorry driver who was caught carrying a dangerous load of rubberwood,” the post read.
Strict penalties and reminders
As a result, JPJ Kedah issued a Summons Notice (P22) to both the driver and the vehicle owner for failing to properly secure the load.
“JPJ stressed that road safety is non-negotiable, and excuses like a ‘final trip’ won’t be accepted,” the department added.
