Monthly SARA Aid For Eligible M’sians Now Credited Directly To MyKad

According to an announcement by the Ministry of Finance (MoF) via Facebook, the monthly assistance aims to help citizens cope with daily essentials.
Who is eligible and how much will they get?
The monthly SARA payouts vary depending on whether recipients are under the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) category or eKasih:
- Household Category: Households receiving STR get RM100 a month, while those under eKasih receive RM200 a month.
- Senior Citizens: Senior citizens receive RM50 a month under STR, and RM150 a month if registered under eKasih.
- Singles: Single individuals receive RM50 a month under STR, and RM100 a month under eKasih.
What can you buy with the SARA aid?
The funds credited into the MyKad can be used across more than 14,700 participating supermarkets and grocery stores nationwide. Purchases are restricted to 15 approved categories of essential goods, which include:
- Rice
- Eggs
- Bread
- Cooking oil
- Biscuits
- Noodles (Mi)
- Flour (Tepung)
- Beverages
- Seasonings (Bahan perasa)
- Canned food
- Personal care products
- Over-the-counter medications at the counter
- School supplies
- Household cleaning supplies
- Frozen foods
