by Kyan Koh · WORLD OF BUZZNothing warms the heart quite like true Malaysian unity, especially when unexpected kindness shines on the busy highway!
Taking to Threads, user @nurulasmidarradzi shared a wholesome story detailing how two Indian uncles hopped out of their lorry on the Sungai Besi Highway to help her elderly father change a blown-out tyre. To make the story even sweeter, it turned out one of the uncles was actually her dad’s old mamak buddy!
“Thank you to the two Indian uncles who helped my father, the car tire burst on the Sg Besi highway after picking up my mother from an appointment. Coincidentally, at the time of the incident, the uncle got out off the truck quickly to help change the car tire.
“My father had just recovered from a heart problem. Not only that, the uncle accompanied my father back home until he entered the Balakong area. It turns out he’s my father’s friend who often hangs out at Mamak. Thank you so much, uncle, we’re deeply grateful and Happy Deepavali!” she wrote in her heartwarming post.
A sudden blowout on the highway after a hospital appointment
The incident unfolded on the Sungai Besi Highway right after the user’s father picked up her mother from a medical appointment. Out of nowhere, one of their car’s tyres suddenly burst, leaving the elderly couple stranded on the busy shoulder.
Given that her father had only recently recovered from heart issues, the situation was particularly stressful and physically demanding. Fortunately, two Indian uncles driving a lorry nearby immediately pulled over without hesitation to assist.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, the user shared the exact moment her father realised his heroic savior wasn’t a total stranger!
“My father realised it was his mamak friend when that uncle came close to him and said, ‘Hey, I’m your friend la! It’s me! When you came out from your car, I could recognise you!”
“Then my mum directly called to inform me that someone had already helped my parents change the tyre, it was my dad’s Indian uncle friend who always hangs out with my father.” the user revealed to WORLD OF BUZZ.
Not only did the kind uncles swiftly replace the blown tyre on the roadside, but they also insisted on escorting the elderly couple all the way back to their home in Balakong to ensure they arrived completely safe!
Refused money, pure goodwill ahead of Deepavali
Overwhelmed by the gesture, the user’s father attempted to offer the uncles a monetary reward as a token of deep appreciation, but they firmly declined.
“My dad wanted to give them some reward money, but that uncle refused as well. They said they just wanted to help,
“My wishes to all are that God may always bless those uncles and their families. They have such a good hearts! May this Deepavali be full of blessings for their celebration. We feel so grateful. Not only him, but all my family are very thankful to the uncles. We owe them so much! Happy Deepavali!” the user said.
Moments like these remind us that no matter our backgrounds, Malaysians will always have each other’s backs when it matters most!
