Malaysia Book of Records Names Dum Dum Matrimony Largest Indian Matrimony Platform

by · WORLD OF BUZZ

Dum Dum Matrimony, a Malaysian-grown Indian matrimony platform, has been recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records as the “Largest Indian Matrimony Platform”, six years after it began as a home-based initiative.

Helping users find their forever person

First established in 2020 by Poshini Devi, the service was initially for friends and relatives to find suitable life partners through introductions managed manually on WhatsApp.

Then registrations grew beyond 1,000, and eventually, managing profiles and individual preferences, including age, education, profession, location and family background, became increasingly challenging. To mitigate this, the service moved to an online platform in 2023, followed by the launch of a mobile application in 2025.

“Our focus is to build a sustainable matrimony platform that makes finding a life partner more accessible while maintaining the trust and privacy families expect,” she said.

Today, Dum Dum Matrimony has more than 12,000 registered users and has facilitated over 1,000 marriages. It serves Malaysian and Singaporean citizens, including singles, divorcees and widows and widowers seeking life partners. Many parents and siblings also register and manage profiles on behalf of their loved ones, showing the big role families have in the matrimonial journey.

Poshini’s own journey reflects the evolution of the company. Originally a Biotechnology graduate, she moved into entrepreneurship and technology by building a solution around a genuine community need. As Dum Dum Matrimony grew, she was supported by her husband, T. Sathiyavarmaan, currently the Managing Director of the company. Together, they helped transform the home-based initiative into a more structured, technology-driven business, strengthening its operations, digital presence and long-term growth.

More than just a matchmaking service

A key part of Dum Dum Matrimony’s positioning is its clear focus on marriage rather than dating. The platform is designed for individuals who are genuinely seeking a life partner, with marriage as the primary intention.

Privacy and user control are also important to the platform. Dum Dum Matrimony incorporates measures such as selfie verification, identification verification, phone-call verification, email verification, profile-access controls and privacy settings. The company does not trade or share users’ personal information with other individuals, businesses or third-party companies for external use. User information is handled within the platform with a strong emphasis on privacy and confidentiality. This commitment has helped build trust among families, including parents and siblings who manage profiles for their loved ones.

Making global moves

From its beginnings at home, Dum Dum Matrimony today operates from a physical office in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, supported by more than 10 key personnel. Its growth has also been strengthened through support, opportunities and exposure from Malaysian government agencies, NGOs, community organisations and strategic partners.

The Malaysia Book of Records recognition represents an important new chapter for the company. Having established its presence in Malaysia and expanded its services to Singaporeans, Dum Dum Matrimony has also received enquiries from communities in Australia, Canada, Sri Lanka and India. The company plans to progressively explore these markets with the ambition of developing a Malaysian-born matrimony brand that connects Indian communities across borders.

For Dum Dum Matrimony, the recognition is not simply about achieving a record. It represents the trust of thousands of individuals and families, the marriages that have begun through the platform, and the transformation of a simple community-focused idea into a growing Malaysian technology business.
