Fixed multitool screwdrivers are useful until they don’t fit the fastener. A Torx or hex screw, awkward angle, or recessed fitting can still send you looking for a separate tool kit.

The Victorinox Swiss Tool X Plus Ratchet addresses that gap with a full-size pliers-based multitool and a separate miniature ratchet, extension bar, interchangeable bits, corkscrew, and 1.5 mm mini screwdriver. Victorinox’s current product page lists 38 functions across the package, from cutting and gripping to screwdriving and wire work.
The appeal isn’t the function count. It’s combining familiar multitool jobs with a more adaptable driver system—provided you’re willing to carry the extra pieces.

The Ratchet Is the Reason to Choose This Version
The separate ratchet comes with an extension bar and six bits: Phillips 0 and 3, Torx 10 and 15, and 3 mm and 4 mm hex. The bit case has room for additional bits.
Unlike turning an entire multitool as a screwdriver, a ratchet lets you work through a restricted arc without repeatedly removing and repositioning the driver. The extension adds reach for recessed fasteners.
Victorinox lists the ratchet at 30 Nm. That is the manufacturer’s rating, not a reason to treat it as a replacement for a full-size wrench on every high-torque job. Its main advantage is flexibility, not brute force.
Built-In Drivers Cover Quick Adjustments
You don’t need to unpack the ratchet for every loose screw. The core tool includes 2 mm, 3 mm, 5 mm, and 7.5 mm screwdrivers plus a Phillips 1/2 driver.
Those handle straightforward adjustments; the ratchet and bits expand your options when the fixed drivers don’t fit or repeated turns become awkward.
Pliers and Wire-Working Tools
The needle-nose pliers are joined by a cutter for thin and soft wire up to 40 HRC, a hard-wire cutter, wire crimper, wire bender, wire stripper, and wire scraper.
These capabilities help explain the advertised function count: individual implements perform multiple jobs. You aren’t getting 38 separate tools folded into the handles.
The list describes intended uses, not tested durability. For demanding or repetitive work, dedicated pliers and cutters still have advantages.
Cutting Tools for Wood and Metal
The kit includes a large plain-edge blade, scissors, wood saw, metal saw, and metal file. The separate saws cover wood and metal tasks, while the file can smooth rough metal edges.
Victorinox specifies that the blade locks open but does not offer one-handed opening. If quick knife access is your priority, a dedicated one-hand-opening folder may be more convenient.
Smaller Tools Round Out the Kit
Other functions include a reamer and punch, can opener, bottle opener, 7 mm chisel and scraper, sturdy crate opener, centimeter and inch rulers, and a lanyard hole.
The accessory corkscrew carries a 1.5 mm mini screwdriver for small slotted screws, adding an option below the size of the integrated drivers.
The Tradeoff Is Size and Loose Parts
The tool measures 115 × 35 × 21 mm. Victorinox lists the tool at 290 g (10.2 oz); the separate ratchet, extension bar, bits, corkscrew, mini screwdriver, and pouch add to what you’ll carry.
Leather and nylon belt-pouch versions are available, depending on the model number and market. The pouch also helps keep the accessory system together.
That makes this package easier to justify in a vehicle, work bag, or equipment kit than as a lightweight pocket carry.
Who Should Buy the Swiss Tool X Plus Ratchet?
The Swiss Tool X Plus Ratchet makes sense for someone who regularly encounters fasteners that basic multitool drivers can’t handle. Its core tools cover cutting, gripping, and wire work; the separate ratchet adds bit choice and reach.

If you mainly need pliers, a blade, and a couple of drivers for occasional fixes, a smaller multitool may be enough. This version is better suited to repair-oriented carry, where a more adaptable driver system matters more than minimum weight.
