Makita’s next XGT tool tackles the driveway: a 21-inch snow blower planned for November 2026. The single-stage SN001GL101 brings snow clearing to the company’s 40V max battery system, with adjustable rotation speed, lights and a handle that folds for storage.

The October 21 US announcement lists a throwing distance of up to 33 feet. Makita hasn’t supplied a US price in that announcement, so there’s no price comparison to make yet. Existing snow blowers at Amazon offer another route if you need equipment before this one reaches stores.

What Makita is adding to XGT

The SN001GL101 in Makita’s US press kit.

A 21-inch clearing path puts this in the same width class as EGO’s single-stage SNT2134 below. Width alone doesn’t establish how quickly either machine will clear a driveway, though: snow depth and consistency change the work, and Makita’s up-to-33-foot throwing figure is a specification rather than a test result.

The adjustable rotation speed gives the operator a control to work with rather than one fixed setting. Makita also places LED lights at the front and on the handle, useful locations when snow needs moving before sunrise or after work.

The folding handle addresses a different problem: where the machine goes for the rest of the year. It can take up less storage space when folded, without requiring a permanent full-length parking spot beside the mower.

Check your batteries before planning around it

XGT and 18V LXT are separate Makita platforms. A Makita drill in the garage doesn’t automatically give you a battery for this snow blower. Check the platform printed on your packs rather than relying on the brand or color.

The US announcement doesn’t specify the SN001GL101 package’s battery capacity, included charger or runtime. Those details will determine the cost of getting started, especially for an LXT owner considering a first XGT purchase.

Two alternatives at Amazon

These are different products, not Makita variants. One includes a separate cordless battery system; the other trades battery charging for an extension cord.

EGO SNT2134: a complete cordless kit

Price: $899 for the SNT2134 kit with two 56V 6.0Ah batteries and a dual-port charger
Where to buy: Amazon

The EGO SNT2134 is a 21-inch single-stage push snow blower. The $899 kit includes two 56V 6.0Ah batteries and a dual-port charger, making the starting cost clear even if you don’t own other EGO equipment.

The SNT2134 has heated grips and handle-mounted controls for the chute’s direction and pitch. You can redirect the snow from the handle instead of reaching forward to the chute. Its claimed throwing distance is up to 45 feet; neither that number nor the wider specification sheet establishes a tested advantage over the unreleased Makita.

This kit suits someone who wants cordless operation without assembling a battery-and-charger purchase separately. It also starts or expands an EGO collection, not an XGT one.

Snow Joe SJ627E: lower cost, with a cord to manage

Price: $249.99 for the SJ627E corded snow blower
Where to buy: Amazon

The 22-inch Snow Joe SJ627E uses a 15-amp motor and mains power. At $249.99, it costs substantially less than the EGO kit, with no battery packs to charge. The trade-off follows you along the driveway: you need to manage an extension cord and stay within reach of a suitable outlet.

That makes it a more practical candidate for a paved walkway or driveway near the house than a route extending far from power. Budget for a suitable outdoor extension cord. The SJ627E manual specifies GFCI protection, a wire gauge matched to the cord’s length and a maximum length of 100 feet.

Keep storage in the comparison, too. Check the assembled and folded dimensions against the space you actually have, including the room needed to move the machine past a parked car. A folding handle helps, but clearing width isn’t the machine’s overall width.
