The most common reading has the traditional Fold successor becoming the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, with an 8-inch inner display and a taller 6.5-inch cover screen, while the wider variant takes the plain Fold 8 name.

The Galaxy Z Flip 8 Might Be the Last of Its Kind

The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is the quieter update, but it carries the most dramatic rumor. Leaks describe a familiar clamshell with a 4.1-inch cover display, a 6.9-inch inner screen, a bigger 4,300 mAh battery, and charging that leaks put at either 25W or 45W depending on the report. The camera looks like a carryover, with a 50MP main and a 12MP ultrawide.

The chip is the one real change, and it comes with a regional catch. Reports point to Samsung’s own Exynos 2600 in some markets and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy in others, mirroring last year’s split.

The bigger story is existential. Several reports suggest the Flip 8 could be the last clamshell Samsung makes if it consolidates its foldable lineup, though that angle is far from confirmed. It’s still the kind of context that changes how you’d feel about buying one.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 Leads the Wearables

On the wearables side, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is the one leakers keep circling. Renders point to only quiet exterior tweaks, with the real changes underneath: an upgraded BioActive sensor array and dedicated on-device AI silicon. One leak pegs that chip as capable of running models as large as 2 billion parameters right on the wrist, reportedly hitting about 10 tokens per second. That would be the first time the Ultra line handles AI processing of that scale locally.

A second-generation Galaxy Ring is also floating around, though most reports peg it for an early 2027 launch, so a July 22 appearance would be unexpected. Either way the sourcing stays thin, and if it does show up, expect better sleep tracking and more size options rather than a redesign.

A more pessimistic counter-leak has the storage tiers creeping up, in line with Samsung’s April 2026 Fold 7 price hike. None of these numbers are official, so treat the whole pricing picture as provisional until the keynote.

Should You Buy Now or Wait?

If you already own a recent foldable, there’s little reason to jump before July 22. Trade-in values for the Fold 7 and Flip 7 usually drop the day after Unpacked, so waiting costs you nothing and could save you plenty.

If you’re price-sensitive and just want a great foldable today, the current Galaxy Z Fold 7 deal at $1,425 is the cleaner play.
