· RTE.ie

The country is set to experience mild weather this Christmas Day, with temperatures averaging between 11C to 13C.

Met Éireann says that it will be quite cloudy, but some brighter breaks will develop.

Most places will be dry, but there will be some light rain and drizzle in the western half of the country.

It will be a slightly warmer day than Christmas Day last year, when the highest temperature recorded at Phoenix Park was 9.9C, while the lowest temperature was 6.8C.

Tonight it will be mostly cloudy with some drizzle and mist, but an odd clear spell will break through.

Overall for the Christmas week, Met Éireann says that the weather is relatively mild and dull with a good deal of dry weather.
