Woman airlifted to hospital after assault in Tipperary

A woman in her 20s is in a critical condition following a serious assault which occurred on the R494 at Birdhill, Co. Tipperary yesterday evening.

The woman was airlifted to hospital.

Shortly before 5.30pm, gardaí and emergency services responded to the incident in which the woman was seriously injured.

The scene remains preserved for a technical examination, and the road is closed with local diversions in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses who were on the R494 between Birdhill and the M7 motorway between 5pm and 6pm yesterday to contact them.

Anyone who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
