Man, 20s, dies in Co Westmeath road crash

A man in his 20s has died in a single-vehicle road crash in Co Westmeath.

The crash happened at Ballinafid on the N4, the main Dublin to Sligo road, shortly before 1am.

The young man, who was the driver of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The N4 between Mullingar and Rathowen remains closed for a technical examination and diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

They are asking road users who were travelling on the N4 and may have camera footage - including dash cam footage - to make it available to investigating gardaí.
