Teenage boy dies following fall from e-scooter in Carlow

A teenage boy has died after he fell from an e-scooter in Carlow last night.

The boy, who was aged in his late teens, was travelling on the e-scooter with another person when they fell on Carpenters Way in Carlow town at around 8.30pm.

He was taken to St Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny with serious injuries, before being transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, where he later died.

The second person, an adult aged in his late teens, was assessed at the scene, but did not require hospital treatment.

The road is closed for a technical examination and diversions are in place.
