How Kayla Nicole has handled awkward Travis Kelce run-ins: ‘No room to communicate’

Kayla Nicole was candid about where she stands with Travis Kelce after their 2022 breakup.

During the latest installment of WNBA star Angel Reese’s “Unapologetically Angel” podcast, the influencer explained that she and the Chiefs tight end don’t communicate because of his “new situation” — he’s dating Taylor Swift, one of the biggest pop stars in the world — and the spotlight it comes with it.

“I’d probably hit him with a head nod that’s about it,” Kayla said when asked by Reese whether the exes are cool with each other. “… We’ve seen each other in public spaces, but I think that we’re both aware of the nature of his new situation that there is just no room really for us to communicate or really acknowledge each other publicly without it being spun into something crazy. So, we just keep it moving.”

Nicole dated the Chiefs tight end on and off from 2017-22, and she became close friends with Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Both she and Kelce were in their wedding, which took place in Maui, Hawaii, in March 2022.

Kayla explained that she learned a lot during their relationship.

“It was great,” she said. “He’s a great guy and it was a good time in my life … So many lessons learned.”

Kayla also revealed she is on the dating app, Raya.

“I said I would never never do dating apps and I did it. I was pressured into it… [by] my friend,” she said, adding that she wants to branch outside of just dating athletes.

“I think that I’ve had my fun with the athlete world and it’s just like, ‘OK, what more do you guys have to offer?’ … like really sweet and respectful and a family man, who wants to settle down,” she said.

Kayla then explained that people haven’t dated her because of her relationship history.

“I mean, no one has said that to my face, but I think I’ve had conversations with guys — they are intimidated by my dating history for sure, which is unfair because it’s like, it wasn’t even all that,” she said. “It was cool. But it comes with the territory.”

Kelce and Swift, who’ve been dating since last summer, went public with their relationship in October 2023.
