He should probably yell “fore” a little louder next time.

Jordan Spieth’s wayward tee shot on the ninth hole during the second round of the Masters at Augusta National on Friday hit a bystander’s hand — and took a fortuitous bounce onto the fairway.

The fan appeared to be fine, but was definitely all smiles after Spieth still gave him an autographed glove for his trouble,

Jordan Spieth hits a wayward ninth tee shot that hit a fan in the arm but that wound up being a positive result for Spieth.

Right as the ball was struck off the tee, the broadcasters knew immediately that it was going to be a troubling opening shot.

“Oh no,” the ESPN broadcaster Frank Nobilo said right as the ball was hit. “Oh, what a bounce. I think that hit that patron’s hand.”

The bad bounce actually set Spieth up for a decent second shot, allowing him to card a par on the hole in four shot.

He ended the second round with a 1-over 73, putting him in a tie for 31st at 1-over for the tournament — eight back of leader Rory McIlroy’s 7-under halfway through his second go-round.

Spieth has had an up-and-down career at the Masters, starting things off in style with a winning performance in 2015 and finishing as runner-up in 2014 and 2016.

He’s fallen on hard times in Augusta since, missing the cut in 2024 and nearly doing so again in 2025.

Jordan Spieth rewarded the patron who was hit by a wayward tee shot.

His 1-over start should be good enough to make the cut this year, as the cut line is currently projected at 3-over.

Like everyone else, he’s chasing reigning champ McIlroy. A few more lucky bounces could help.
