ITV I'm A Celebrity fans issue two-word response after Dean McCullough trial
by Tianna Corbin · Wales OnlineI'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! viewers have been left less than impressed with one particular celebrity on the much-loved ITV programme.
When the show premiered on Sunday evening, audiences were greeted with a new array of familiar faces ready for jungle life, including Coleen Rooney, Danny Jones and Jane Moore among the ten celebrities.
Since its commencement, the series has showcased edge-of-your-seat trials, heartwarming interactions and plenty of laughs. Yet, there's been one campmate who has got a lot of attention by consistently being picked by viewers for trials.
Radio presenter Dean McCullough has become the face of the Bushtucker Trials on the reality show, having completed two on his own and another with GK Barry.
Regrettably, both times he went solo, he ended up exclaiming the shows iconic phrase 'I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!', prematurely ending the trials.
In each gruelling test, Dean has come up against all manner of jungle bugs and critters from crickets and snakes to spiders, green ants, and cockroaches trying to gather stars for his fellow campmates amidst shouts and screams, reports the Express.
Thursday's episode announced that Dean will once again brave the wilds, this time alongside McFly's Danny Jones.
While some avid fans have expressed their views about Dean on X (a substitute for Twitter), there's a scepticism surrounding whether his fear is genuine or merely performative.
A viewer commented: "Can no one else tell that dean is being fake? can we stop voting him for trials pls it's literally what he wants the public to do for more screen time #ImACeleb #imacelebrity."
Another person wrote: "Why is he acting shocked when he's picked? He's got to know why he's been voted .. so fake #imaceleb."
Elsewhere, one person added: "#ImACeleb my main problem with Dean is that one second he's screaming the next he's calm as anything.. just comes across all fake and staged."
While another reeled: "Please stop voting for Dean to do trials. It's really boring now. Fake drama."
However, not everyone shares this view, as some fans enjoyed his presence on the show, with one expressing affection: "God I LOVE Dean."
Upon discussing Dean's performance in the trials on Good Morning Britain, host Susanna Reid quickly came to his defence, stating firmly: "I have to defend Dean here. I don't know him and have never met him, but he had the helmet on, which then got filled with bugs.
"Then he managed to do the two stars, you collect the stars using your mouth and then you poke it through the little letter box hole. Then the sand came in, this is sand."
The ITV star went on to describe the harrowing challenge, adding: "You know what it's like when you get trapped in sand and the sand is continually rising up his legs. Even as I say that I start feeling a little bit panicky!"
At present, Danny Jones and GK Barry are considered the top contenders to be crowned champions of the jungle.
Lee Phelps, spokesperson for William Hill, stated: "Danny Jones was already a firm favourite to win this year's edition of I'm A Celebrity and the McFly singer has been smashed in the betting since the beginning of the show, shortening into even-money from 15/8 yesterday.
"Jones is now well clear of GK Barry at 5/1, with Maura Higgins closing in on her in the market at 8/1 from 10/1.Alan Halsall is the big negative in the market, after drifting to 14/1 from 8/1."
I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! continues weeknights on ITV from 9pm.
