ITV I'm A Celeb viewers left confused minutes into first show
by Tianna Corbin · Wales OnlineThe much-anticipated new series of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! is heere.
The show kicked off on Sunday night, with ITV viewers tuning in to see celebrities such as GK Barry, Oti Mabuse, Melvin Odoom and Jane Moore trade their home comforts for the Australian jungle.
The first episode of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! saw the initial five celebrities, Oti, Tulisa Contostavlos, Dean McCullough, Jane and Danny Jones, meet at a plush poolside villa.
Their introductions were cut short by the arrival of five helicopters while Ant and Dec arrived in style to inform the stars that they would be immediately thrown into the I'm A Celeb lifestyle with a gruesome task. The celebrities were instructed to consume drinks made from blended bull's penis and fish eye, garnished with vomit fruit.
The order in which they finished their drinks determined the sequence in which they exited their helicopter and selected another celebrity to pair up with. Once paired, they had to compete together to become the camp leaders.
However, as the episode kicked off, it wasn't long before viewers took to Twitter to share their thoughts on this year's line-up, with many saying the same thing.
One person said: "Lol I literally don't know who half these people are," while another added: "Literally who are these people... worst lineup ever? !"
Another person wrote: "'I don't even know who half of these are, is this a sign of becoming old or? #ImACeleb'" whilst somenone else shared: "I'm a (unknown) celeb is back... who are half of these people."
One more viewer commented: "Frantically Googling the younger ones because I haven't a clue who they are #feelingold." Another tweet read: "So pleased that they are putting the celeb's job title on their intro sequence, half of them I have no idea who they are? !"
Despite the show only just beginning, bookies Betway have already identified a potential winner - Danny Jones.
Mike Reading, a spokesperson at Betway, noted: "McFly seem to have the magic touch when it comes to reality TV, with bassist Dougie Poynter taking home the jungle crown in 2011, and drummer Harry Judd snagging the Strictly Come Dancing Glitterball Trophy the same year."
