Aldi, Morrisons, Tesco and Lidl urgently recall range of products
by Neil Shaw · Wales OnlineMajor supermarkets have recalled a number of products that could be dangerous for some consumers. Product recall alerts have been issued by the Food Standards Agency amid fears some products could be contaminated.
The recalls include a potato salad that may have pieces of metal, garlic that could cause food poisoning and a dip that may contain dangerous bacteria. A product recall in the UK refers to a process where a manufacturer, distributor, or retailer asks consumers to return a product due to safety concerns, defects, or regulatory compliance issues. It is typically initiated when a product is found to pose a risk to health, safety, or the environment.
Product recalls aim to protect public safety and maintain consumer trust. Companies are encouraged to act swiftly to minimize harm. If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be 'withdrawn' (taken off the shelves) or 'recalled' (when customers are asked to return the product). The FSA issues Product Withdrawal Information Notices and Product Recall Information Notices to let consumers and local authorities know about problems associated with food. In some cases, a 'Food Alert for Action' is issued. This provides local authorities with details of specific action to be taken on behalf of consumers.
Morrisons
Morrisons is recalling Morrisons Crushed Garlic because an ingredient has been omitted from the product that prevents microbiological growth and therefore presents a potential risk to consumers. The recall includes all 75g packs with a best before date of October 19, 2025.
Without the ingredient, potentially dangerous food poisoning bacteria could grow inside the packs.
Point of sale notices will be displayed in stores where the product was sold. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought it.
If you have bought the garlic do not eat it. Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.
