How Cardiff city centre looked as people partied on New Year's Eve

by · Wales Online

The chilly weather didn't put people heading to Cardiff city to see out 2025 and mark the start of 2026. People filled the bars, pubs and restaurants in the city centre. Wales' capital city has been named amongst the best places in the UK to celebrate New Year's Eve with fireworks displays, events and Winter Wonderland open to mark the end of 2025 as we head into 2026.

Luckily for those out on the town on December 31, it was dry but chilly temperatures across the country.

In London, 100,000 people watched 12,000 fireworks light up the sky as Big Ben struck midnight. The theme of the display this year was togetherness as the London Eye lit up with flags from across the globe, showing the cultural diversity of England's capital and the UK.

There were similarly impressive displays all around the world.

Now back to Cardiff, here are some of the best pictures of the night as people took to the city centre on New Year's Eve.
