GK Barry opens up about I'm A Celeb 'trauma' as she takes swipe at ITV bosses
by Matt Jackson, Matt Jackson · Wales OnlineGK Barry has aimed a swipe at I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! bosses after she was initially rejected by the show.
The influencer, whose real name is Grace Keeling, revealed that she had applied to join the popular ITV series last year. But, after being interviewed by show bosses, was not part of the line-up of famous faces as they jetted off to Australia.
It led to the 25-year-old saying "f*** it" and chalking the show off as a "trauma". But after being approached this year, she decided to head Down Under and enter the jungle, reports the Daily Record.
On her Saving Grace podcast, she shared: "I haven't slept for a month. It's all haha, heehee until you clock what you're actually doing. I've always wanted to do this show.
"Last year I was interviewed for it and didn't get it, and I thought I was so upset, and then I was like 'yeah, it's fine, because f*** it, that's trauma that'. So I like put in my head 'f*** it, I'm doing it now' and all the things that I've told myself are still here."
In anticipation of her stint on the show, Grace mentioned that her family had bought her salt and vinegar flavoured crickets and locusts to help her prepare. However, her practice sessions with the insects were less than successful.
She recounted: "So I ate them. Ate them is a stretch, I put them in my mouth, cried and swallowed them."

She recounted a humorous incident involving her footballer partner Ella Rutherford, who brought back a pumpkin from a local patch, leading to an unexpected encounter. She explained: "A worm must have fallen from the pumpkin and I stepped with my bare feet onto the floor and felt something move underneath me.
"I thought 'is it the cat's tail? ' It was a worm, to which I hysterically cried and screamed, and eyelashes's [Ella's] mum had to take it out."
The celebrity also admitted her aversion to "animals, flying, and sleeping outside". Fans can catch the new series of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! at 9pm on ITV One this Sunday.
