ITV I'm A Celebrity's Dean McCullough forced to leave camp after unexpected twist
by Kimberly Nhundu · Wales OnlineI'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! sensation Dean McCullough was made to exit the main camp in a surprising twist during the recent show.
Since his arrival as one of the show's prominent figures on Sunday (November 17), which includes names like WAG Coleen Rooney, Corrie favourite Alan Halsall, N-Dubz star Tulisa Contostavlos and TikTok hit GK Barry, there hasn’t been a dull moment.
The latest episode on Thursday (November 21) saw fresh faces Maura Higgins and Reverend Richard Coles join the jungle fray as late entrants, finding themselves isolated from the other celebrities.
The pair were relegated to the so-called decrepit Jungle Junkyard, a location the primary camp is duped into believing is in a state of decay, whilst in reality, it hides indulgent comforts.
In the episode that aired Friday night (November 22), presenters Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly unveiled an unanticipated plot twist. Maura and Richard needed to entice a fellow camp mate to come over to the junkyard, covertly integrating him into their life of hidden opulence.
Following the day’s Bushtucker trial, Maura and Richard convinced the Northern Irish star to join them, perpetuating the falsehood of their bleak conditions, even suggesting they lacked beds. Breaking the act, former Love Island contestant Maura divulged the existence of a red button to Dean, remarking: "The only half-decent thing we have over here, this red button, press that, it's actually quite interesting. It's not great but it's something.", reports OK!.
Once Dean hit the button, he was clued into the Jungle Junkyard secret. At first unable to speak from astonishment, the BBC presenter then uttered under his breath: "You've got to be kidding me! " He commended the acting skills of the newest camp members, jesting: " The BAFTA is coming! " As Dean was getting accustomed to his new surroundings, newcomer Maura wasted no time in enjoying a bubble bath in the junkyard.
On the flip side, those at the main camp were oblivious to the Jungle Junkyard's existence and pondered over Dean's situation with sympathy: "Poor Dean." Dean has become a hot topic among this year's contenders, especially after opting out of trials earlier than expected.
Speaking to ITV before his jungle adventure, he did not shy away from expressing his fears, saying: "I'm terrified of everything and the more I think about being put in the ground with 50 snakes or getting those green fly things that bite poured over me – well there's just no point thinking about it, as otherwise I won't get on the plane."
Despite previously backing out of challenges, the 32 year old still secured eight stars with Danny Jones in tonight's task.
I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! airs at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX
