Manchester United icon and football pundit Roy Keane has been the epitome of composure when it comes to his daughters entering the dating scene.

Renowned for his contributions to Sky Sports' Premier League analyses over the past five years and featuring on ITV for both domestic and international match coverage, Keane has become a familiar face in broadcasting. This, coupled with his role as co-host of the Stick to Football podcast, provides fans with ample understanding of his professional life, while he has predominantly kept his personal affairs out of the spotlight.

Keane, who tied the knot with wife Theresa back during his active playing days in 1997, is a father to five children, including four daughters: Shannon, Caragh, Aidan, Leah and Alanna, all now adults.

During an interview on The Tommy Tiernan Show last year, Keane was questioned about the experience of living with many women at home. His succinct response, a simple "brilliant" elicited laughter from those in attendance.

Expanding on this, Keane remarked: "No it is, brilliant. Really good kids, they're good, very good kids," reports the Mirror.

The conversation took a turn when Tiernan probed into the toughest aspect of fatherhood, which saw Keane pause and appear visibly perplexed.

Tiernan jokingly chipped in: "Are you f***ing kidding me are ya?" To which Keane, shaking his head, answered: "No, they're OK. Listen when they get a bit older, I suppose boyfriends and that type of carry on, yeah that can be (shrugs)."

Tiernan quipped about the football legend's intimidating presence, saying: "I'd say it'd be fairly intimidating meeting you now in all fairness. Clint Eastwood in the kitchen."

However, Keane downplayed the notion and expressed his nonchalance to the audience's curiosity: "You'd be very surprised. Surely that's the same for everybody," he contended.

Tiernan remained sceptical, remarking: "You're so guarded. Maybe you're just so calm and settled and strong."

Keane, however, maintained his stance, replying: "No, quite relaxed yeah. Do you want me to do a somersault or something? Very relaxed, nice drive up, we're good."

While Keane keeps his personal life private, viewers can expect the sharp-tongued pundit to return with vigour on Super Sunday as Manchester United host Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.
