The first baby born on Merseyside this Christmas Day arrived two days early. Parents Lois Baker, 21, and Harvey Boulton, 20, from Bidston, welcomed baby Reggie Boulton at Arrowe Park Hospital at 2.07am on Christmas morning.
First-time mum Lois went into labour early on Christmas Eve, three days ahead of her due date. Despite having just two hours of sleep, Lois said: "It's the best present I ever could have had. No-one will ever beat this present."
The first baby born in Liverpool this Christmas morning was Serenne Calder, born at Liverpool Women's Hospital at 5.39am. Parents Ant Calder, 42, and student nurse Keileigh Gough, 38, from Old Swan, weren't expecting little Serenne to arrive until the 28th.
Dad Ant, however, had a feeling his first-born daughter would arrive early. He said: "I knew it'd be a girl and I knew she would be born on Christmas Day."
Ant added: "We've had the best possible care and the best interactions all the way through the pregnancy. It could bring me to tears how happy I am."
Reuben Evans arrived at Arrowe Park Hospital to parents Mill Hickin, 23, and Hayden Evans, 26, from Birkenhead, at 4.52am. He was days early, and the pair had joked about their little one arriving on Christmas Day, but "never thought it would happen," mum Mill said.
But she went into labour early on Christmas Eve, with the couple arriving at the hospital that evening. Mill said: "It's all worth it to see his little face on Christmas Day."
Wagon driver Hayden said: "We're over the moon. It's the best Christmas present ever."
Jadie-Leigh Duggan arrived to mum Jade Duggan, from Birkenhead, at Arrowe Park Hospital at 4am weighing 5lbs 13oz. "It's an amazing feeling," said Jade, 24.
Jadie-Leigh is the second granddaughter to Christina Duggan, 54. She said: "She's so special. The team in this hospital were absolutely fantastic.
"If I was a millionaire I'd give them half. There were so many complications but we never felt worried because of the way the doctors and midwives handled it."
Amy Russell, 25, and Steven Norman, 30, welcomed their fifth child at 6.50am, and were yet to name their baby when the ECHO visited on Thursday afternoon. The baby boy joins four older sisters, and weighed 6lbs 14oz.
