Secret Service is the latest drama on ITV but it's far from the only gripping spy thriller available to stream on ITVX.

The show is led by Gemma Arterton, who takes on the role as MI6 agent and head of the Secret Intelligence Service's Russia Desk Kate Henderson. She finds herself caught up in a perilous conspiracy at the centre of government.

After her covert operations reveal troubling evidence that a senior politician could be a Russian asset, Kate faces a pressured race against the clock to identify them and rescue her agent.

  1. Betrayal

  2. A Spy Among Friends

    Based on the bestselling book, A Spy Among Friends centres on real-life British intelligence officer Nicholas Elliott (Damian Lewis), who uncovers that his close colleague Kim Philby (Pearce) has been covertly operating as a Soviet double agent since the 1930s.
    Packed with tense espionage and political intrigue, the series charts the aftermath of Philby's defection to the Soviet Union, compelling Elliott to hunt him down, confront him and extract a confession.
    The widely praised 2022 drama also features Anna Maxwell Martin and Adrian Edmondson.

  3. Berlin Station

    Another essential watch for fans of spy thrillers is Berlin Station, with Richard Armitage starring as CIA analyst Daniel Miller, dispatched undercover to the agency's Berlin outpost on a perilous intelligence mission.
    The strong ensemble cast includes Richard Jenkins, Ashley Judd, Rhys Ifans, Keke Palmer, Leland Orser and Michelle Forbes. Although the series was not originally an ITV production, all three series are currently available to stream on ITVX.

  4. The Ipcress File

    The Ipcress File Adapted from Len Deighton's celebrated 1962 novel of the same name, is an international espionage thriller brimming with twists, deception and political intrigue.
    The show follows British spy Harry Palmer (Joe Cole) as he is drawn into a dangerous mission at the height of the Cold War, after the disappearance of a leading British nuclear scientist threatens to escalate tensions between East and West.
    Recruited to work undercover on a perilous mission, Harry finds himself in a desperate race against time to stop an international crisis from spiralling into nuclear war.

  1. Trigger Point

    Trigger Point is a compelling thriller that deserves a place at the top of any watchlist for devotees of high-stakes drama.
    Vicky McClure stars as bomb disposal officer Lana Washington, who must confront both deadly threats and her own personal trauma while investigating far-reaching conspiracies unfolding across London.
    Filled with nail-biting tension, shocking cliff-hangers and explosive action sequences, the series has proved a massive hit with audiences. Following the third season's release last year, fans can also anticipate another instalment as a new series is in the works.

  2. Red Eye

    Another high-intensity thriller, Red Eye swiftly cemented itself as one of ITV's most notable dramas of 2024. It features Richard Armitage as Dr Matthew Nolan, a British doctor accused of killing a woman in Beijing.
    Forcibly extradited back to China, he is accompanied on the flight by DC Hana Li, portrayed by Jing Lusi. What starts as a straightforward transfer rapidly spirals into something far more sinister, as Hana finds herself entangled in an ever-widening conspiracy involving a high-stakes nuclear deal and international espionage.

  3. Litvinenko

    If the state-secrecy angle is what drew you to Secret Service, then Litvinenko is a strong next watch.
    Based on the real 2006 case in London, it chronicles former Russian intelligence officer Alexander Litvinenko, who claims he was deliberately poisoned on the orders of Vladimir Putin.
    Central to the series is the decade-long battle waged by Marina Litvinenko and the London police to unearth the truth and construct a case robust enough to bring those responsible to justice.
