Liverpool city centre heaving as people bask in the sunshine

Temperatures soared to 20C in Liverpool today

Liverpool city centre was packed this afternoon as people made the most of the sunny weather. Temperatures hit 20C in the city today.

The Liverpool ONE steps, the Pier Head, the Daffodil restaurant and Castle Street were popular destinations today. The Met Office predicted plenty of sunny weather over the coming days. A high of 21C is expected to be reached tomorrow. Looking ahead to the weekend and through to Monday, the BBC forecast said: "Saturday will be another dry and warm day with lots of sunshine, although a few areas of cloud will develop in the afternoon.

"Sunday will have a mix of sunny spells and variable cloud, and it will be slightly cooler for many. Monday will be dry and fine with plenty of sunshine and just the odd patch of cloud."

  3. Steven Keates, Deputy Chief Forecaster said: "High pressure will remain broadly in charge of the UK's weather for the remainder of this week and into the weekend. Most places will remain dry with a fair amount of sunshine too."
