When Is Savannah Guthrie Returning to 'Today' Show? Everything to Know

Savannah Guthrie‘s return date to the Today show has been revealed.

Savannah, 54, stepped away from the show in February after her mother, Nancy Guthrie, was reported missing in Arizona. Savannah's coworkers continued to show their support on the air amid the investigation into Nancy's whereabouts.

"She is not going to let sadness win," Craig Melvin said in March after Savannah's return was confirmed. "Her joy is going to be her protest. It's where she belongs. It's where we all want her to be. We cannot wait to welcome her back with open arms here."

Savannah previously made a brief return to Today's Studio 1A in March and thanked staff for their continued support amid Nancy's disappearance.

"I have every intention of coming back," she said at the time. "I don't know how to come back, but I don't know how not to. You're my family. And I would like to try."

When Did Savannah Guthrie Leave the ‘Today' Show?

"When I look at the Today show, it's the answer to all of my dreams, actually better than my dreams," Savannah Guthrie said during her sit-down with Hoda Kotb in March. "It's hard to imagine doing it because it's such a place of joy and lightness. I can't come back and try to be something that I'm not. But I can't not come back because it's my family."

Savannah referred to the show as being part of her "purpose right now," adding, "I want to smile, and when I do, it will be real. And my joy will be my protest. My joy will be my answer. And being there is joyful. And when it's not, I'll say so."

She concluded: "I have been so grateful to have this family, I consider this my family, my greater family, and when times are hard, you want to be with your family. And I want to be with my family. So I don't know if I can do it. I don't know if I'll belong anymore. But I would like to try. And I'm not going to be the same."

What Happened to Nancy Guthrie?

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos previously told Us Weekly that Nancy Guthrie was "taken" from her home. Savannah Guthrie shared more insight into what might have occurred while speaking with Hoda Kotb on the Today show.

"Honestly, we don't know anything. We don't know anything. So, I don't know that it's because she's my mom and somebody thought, ‘Oh, that lady has money, we can make a quick buck,'" she added. "That would make sense, but we don't know. … It's just too much to bear to think that I brought this to her bedside. That it's because of me. I have to say, I'm so sorry, Mommy."

In February, the FBI released photos and video footage of a subject outside of Nancy's home. While the individual has not been identified, authorities and the Guthrie family have offered rewards for information that could help bring Nancy home.

"We are deeply grateful for the outpouring from neighbors, friends and the people of Tucson. We are all family now," Savannah and her siblings said in their latest statement in March. "We continue to believe it's Tucsonians, and the greater Southern Arizona community, that hold the key to finding resolution in this case. Someone knows something. … We cannot grieve; we can only ache and wonder. Our focus is solely on finding her and bringing her home. We want to celebrate her beautiful and courageous life but we cannot do that until she is brought to a final place of rest. Thank you for continuing to pray without ceasing."
