Kailyn Lowry Reveals Why Lindsie Chrisley Friendship Nearly Ended

Kailyn Lowry has revealed how close she came to ending her friendship with her "Coffee Convos" podcast cohost, Lindsie Chrisley, earlier this year.

"It would be a really hard pill to swallow if we ended the ‘Coffee Convos' podcast," Lowry, 34, admitted on the Wednesday, August 26, episode of the "Sarah Frasier Show" podcast. "It would simultaneously have ended our friendship, I think, inadvertently. It wouldn't be intentional. I just don't think our friendship would have survived that as well."

Chrisley, 36, took a lengthy break from "Coffee Convos" following her arrest in May on suspicion of DUI less safe, attempting to elude police, improper passing, reckless driving and speeding in Georgia. (Under Georgia law, a "DUI less safe" means that someone can face charges of driving under the influence even if their blood alcohol concentration is below the legal limit 0.08 percent.)

A police report obtained by Us confirmed that Chrisley paid $1,355 for the DUI less safe, $680 for improper passing, $565 for reckless driving and $2,006 for speeding in order to bond out of the Cherokee County Jail. Chrisley's case is pending and she has yet to enter a plea but has publicly maintained her innocence and vowed to fight the charges. (Us reported in June that Chrisley's lawyer filed a motion in June to suppress all evidence that was seized during her DUI arrest last month, arguing that the seizure was illegal.)

Following Chrisley's arrest, Lowry announced that she would appear solo throughout the entirety of the duo's "Coffee Convos" live tour this summer. Lowry told listeners at the time that she wasn't sure about Chrisley's future on the podcast, which the duo first launched back in 2017.

"I'm not trying to evade your questions, I'm not trying to ignore, I'm not sweeping things under the rug," she said. "There are certain things when it comes to legal, I cannot discuss them, no matter how much I want to, and that's what the PR team is for, that's what lawyers are for. I cannot speak on them; it's literally not because I don't want to. So I just wanted to put that out there for full transparency."

During this week's podcast interview, Lowry confirmed that she was very close to pulling the plug on "Coffee Convos" during Chrisley's absence.

"I had quit the show. I quit the ‘Coffee Convos' podcast," she told host Sarah Fraser on Wednesday. "Lindsie agreed that I'd do the five weeks on my own [while she was away]. I'll do the ads, I'll do the content part of it as well. I ended up doing six weeks and I had told her in the midst of all that that I was done. I wasn't going to do it, not because of what we were going through but because it felt like we weren't communicating. We weren't communicating. It didn't just feel like that. We weren't. We weren't getting together."

Lowry acknowledged that neither party was "doing our part to continue making the podcast successful."

"I think that people underestimate how much work goes into a podcast," she added. "It was just so half-assed and our lack of communication, it was like, I'm done. I have kids. I have a lot of stuff going on. I just can't handle this anymore. Ultimately, we decided to work it out. The interesting thing about Lindsie and I is that we are like sisters where we fight but once we get it out in the open, we can start over. We forget about all of that. It was a challenging few months for us for sure."

A break from each other during those "challenging few months" ultimately helped Lowry and Chrisley realize that their bond was too strong to walk away from.

"We really are like a dysfunctional pair of sisters, genuinely," Lowry insisted. "I had said that at one point. I said, ‘This is so hard because I love Lindsie so much. But then, this piece is not working.' [It was] making a toxic cycle that kept going and going. We both have so much love for the podcast. We both have so much love for our audience that we built."

Chrisley returned to "Coffee Convos" in July for an emotional two-part episode, where she acknowledged that her DUI arrest "tested my strength, my relationships with people that I love and respect and with God."

"I'm determined to be a stronger, more self-aware, resilient, accountable, and authentic person for those around me, my loved ones, and my child [13-year-old son Jackson]," she pledged. "As I move into this next chapter, my focus is not on revisiting what has brought me to this point, but on embracing what I have learned from it. I am grateful for the lessons, committed to continued growth, and looking forward to what lies ahead."

The Chrisley Knows Best alum referred to her arrest as a "hard stop moment" that forced her to "make changes in my life that need to be made and to positively direct myself and reflect."

"I've taken this [arrest] very seriously. I have to focus on, at this point, moving forward, growing and letting the legal process run its course and respecting that process," she said. "S*** needs to be gotten in order, because you cannot continue going down the path of operating off of heartbreak and betrayal and lack of confidence. You cannot continue carrying that every single day because I'm just going to sit in it, and I think I've sat in it long enough."
