Royal Caribbean singer shares what she does on her day off
by Come Cruise With Me Staff · The Fresno BeeMany cruise ship workers get very little time off. Your bartenders, waiters, and room stewards are lucky if they get a break during the day or time for 8 hours of sleep, let alone time to visit ports.
Cruise ship entertainers, however, live a different life. They have a busy schedule with rehearsals, performances, and secondary responsibilities like helping with passenger muster drills.

But entertainers do get time off. In many cases, they have at least one full day off per week to allow for physical recovery. Singers need to rest their voices,, and dancing can be hard on your body.
Allowing entertainers a day off gives them a chance to recuperate and recover. They can also recharge their souls by visiting ports and seeing sites all around the world.

Freedom of the Seas singer shares her day off
Transcript:
Hi guys, welcome back to another vlog here on Freedom of the Seas. If you're new to the channel, I'm Krista, and I am a singer here on board. As a performer, a lot of our work happens in the evening, so in this video, I wanted to share what we get up to when we have a little bit of time off during the day.
This vlog is a little bit all over the place with birthday celebrations, getting back into the gym, and some other things like falling off of paddle boards. So I hope you enjoy and if you're feeling generous, please consider subscribing. It really helps me and the channel.
Okay, let's get into it. The room is freezing, so I'm putting this blanket on me. This week is our first eight-day cruise.
Before now, we had been doing seven-day cruises, and we're kind of going to be alternating between six and eight days, which is very exciting because the ports are also changing. We're going to St. Martin, St. Kitts, and St. Thomas, which we've actually been going to St. Thomas, but St. Martin and St. Kitts are new. Tomorrow in St. Martin, we're gonna be going on a catamaran for Jeff's birthday.
Jeff is my dance captain. That's gonna be a ton of fun. We also only have eight weeks left of this contract.
I'm speechless. I feel like I have, I don't know, the end of a contract always just gets a little bit stressful. You're like, what am I gonna do next when you don't have that next contract lined up, you know? And I've talked about this before on my channel where it's like always that like limbo moment where you're like, do I want to do another contract or is it time to kind of like adjust to landlife and see what that could be like.
It's really a crazy feeling to have spent majority of my 20s working on cruise ships. When we live in a house, eventually we are starting from zero, whereas I feel like people who like maybe went to college have like their couch from college and they have like some bowls and plates and like, you know, a couple of things to get them started. I have like a spatula.
I have like the most random things. Those thoughts are kind of going in my brain. I'm like, oh, eight weeks left.
What are we gonna do next? Your guess is as good as mine. We'll see what happens. Um, anyway, I wasn't planning on rambling like that right now.
I just did. Lots of feelings in my, in my heart, I guess. We are going to Chop's tonight for dinner for Jeff's birthday also, so that will be very nice.
I don't really have any plans for the rest of the afternoon, so I'm probably just gonna work on my computer, maybe work on some music that I need to learn for a jazz set that we're doing. But other than that, I'm just kind of chilling until dinner tonight. Okay, here is the dinner fit.
This cute little pink outfit from Abercrombie. I need to decide what shoes I'm gonna wear, but since this has this like flower on it and there's like bows on here, it could go. You think? It's kind of fun.
It is kind of fun, right? Or we can do black. Looks like your hair is black. So I'm like, does that make it? My hair's not black.

Thank you. Happy birthday to Jeff. Happy birthday to you.

A visit to St, Martin
Get off. Good morning from St. Martin. We walked about 10 minutes over to the marina where we essentially traded a big boat for a little boat.
This catamaran was also way fancier than I think any of us anticipated. It had an outdoor and indoor dining area, including a kitchen. And then, at the front, there was a place to lay out and tan.
And then downstairs, there were four bedrooms. Yes, four. So crazy.
And I apologize. I kind of failed at filming a boat tour. I think I was just so excited.
We had snacks and drinks included for the day, as well as snorkels, a floating mat, and paddle boards. Hi, guys. Welcome to my channel.
So today, we are in the pool. Cheers. Cheers.
Oh, my God. No, I know. It's so healthy.
A trip to St. Kitts
Good morning from St. Kitts. We have not been here all this contract. This is our first time in St. Kitts.
I am just waiting for Robert right now. He's at a rehearsal for 70s Night, which he's going to be doing tonight. We have parade later today.
And so a couple of things going on, but we are going to get off and enjoy St. Kitts for a little while. To decide which bathing suit to wear today, I have them all just like stuffed in this bag. I think I might go bandeau because we need to work on getting rid of some tan lines.
So we're going to go black and just do all black today. I sometimes forget that I have a porthole and I need to close it so that people can't see me changing. Like when we're at sea, I never close it because obviously there's no one out there, but I have to remember that people can definitely see me if I see them.
They're probably not really looking, but we're just going to close these up. This one is a little bit smaller than our last ship. And this is our new one.
All right, hopefully, this music isn't too loud, but we are at this resort. It's like a small little hotel here in St. Kitts. Robert and I came here in 2018.
It's just kind of fun to be back and see what it's still like. It's great because it's free for crew. I think if you're a guest, it's like $20 for a day pass, but the food is really good.
The drinks are really good, and it's not expensive. It's pretty standard, I would say. We ate before we got off the ship, so I haven't eaten yet, but I've seen people with like lobster rolls and it looks really delicious.
But we're just enjoying the sunshine and the pool and the view. You can see the ships behind me, and we walked here from the ship. It was like a 15-minute walk, so it wasn't too bad.
That was really... No. It's really deep. It's like this.
It's like two feet probably. Do it. Do it one more time.
Pretend like you didn't just go in. We are on our way back to the ship. It's about 3.30 and we have parade at 4.30. We love a parade.
Let's fix this. Okay, we just finished parade, but Robert and I are on backstage cleaning this week, which means what it sounds like, we have to clean the backstage. So I'm just sweeping the dressing room right now.
We have to sweep, and then we have to take out the trash and replace toilet paper and paper towels. That's pretty much it. But every week, two people are on backstage cleaning, and it's for master's inspection, which is when the captain comes to different departments and like makes sure that there are no fire hazards and, like, I don't know, that you're keeping your workplace safe essentially.
So we're just cleaning backstage right now. Okay, I just wanted to pop in here really quickly. I didn't film an outro for this video, so I just wanted to say thank you so much for watching.
I hope you guys liked this video. Like I said at the beginning, we only have eight cruises. No, actually when I started filming this film, I had eight cruises left.
Now we only have seven left. I'm trying to kind of batch a bunch of videos before I leave and film as much as I possibly can. So if there's anything you want to see in the next couple of weeks, please let me know down below.

And also I'm looking for like ship life assumptions. What do you assume about living and working on a cruise ship? Or if you have any questions about living and working on a cruise ship, drop them below. I'm working on like an assumptions versus reality video.
So it would be very, very helpful for me in that video. And please consider subscribing if you haven't already. Yeah, that's it.
I'll see you in the next one. Bye.
