Jennifer Lopez Jokes About Past Marriages on Night 1 of Vegas Residency
· The Fresno BeeJennifer Lopez has jokes about her past relationships.
Lopez, 56, kicked off her new Up All Night Live in Las Vegas residency in The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Tuesday, December 30. During a break in her performance, Lopez reflected on her first Vegas residency, which took place nearly a decade prior. (The All I Have show ran from January 2016 to September 2018 at Planet Hollywood.)
"That went by in a blink didn't it? For those of you who were there on opening night 10 years ago," she said, according to fan videos shared via social media. "At that time, I had only been married twice."
She laughed before adding, "That's not true. It was only once. Felt like twice. I'm just kidding."
The crowd laughed as she continued to speak.
"It's over and we just, boom, and it's fine. It's all good," Lopez continued. "The good news is that I'm learning and I'm growing. We're in our happy era right now."
Lopez has been married four times. She and Ojani Noa tied the knot in 1997 but split the following year. Lopez then exchanged vows with Cris Judd, whom she was married to from 2001 to 2003. She eventually moved on with Marc Anthony, exchanging vows in 2004. The former couple welcomed twins Max and Emme during their marriage, which ended in 2014.
More recently, Lopez had a short-lived marriage to Ben Affleck. The two rekindled their romance in 2021 - more than 20 years after calling off their first engagement. They were married by July 2022. Two years later, Lopez filed for divorce. Their split was finalized in February.
Lopez previously addressed her relationship status in July while taking the stage in Spain, hinting that another marriage might not be in the cards.
When Lopez saw a sign in the crowd reading, "J. Lo, marry me?" she playfully brushed it off.
"I think I'm done with that," she replied. "I've tried that a few times."
Lopez has no issue interacting with fans while on stage - and she does not hold back when it comes to calling out the haters. Tuesday's opening night brought some new performance looks for Lopez, who took aim at critics who publicly discuss her looks.
"I do laugh at some of the things sometimes, because they do say funny things, too," Lopez said while addressing the crowd at Caesars Palace. "One of the things that [people say is], ‘Why when she takes pictures, she always smiles with her mouth open?'"
The crowd laughed as Lopez demonstrated her signature pose with her mouth open. The next criticism she addressed was about the way she dresses.
"If you had this body, you'd be naked, too!" she yelled.
