Heat wave in Fresno extended through the week. Temps about 15 degrees above average
· The Fresno BeeCalifornians have been facing higher-than-usual temperatures so far this October, and Fresno will be feeling the heat for at least the rest of the week.
A statewide heat advisory that was originally in place from the weekend through Wednesday evening has been extended through Friday, McClatchy Media meteorologist Sean Macaday said.
Macaday says Tuesday and Wednesday will be the hottest days, with temperatures only slightly behind record highs.
Out in the Foothills, the lows will only reach the mid-to-low 70s, which is a significant shift from what communities like Auberry are used to. Nighttime lows in Fresno will dip into the high 60s.
Overall temperatures in Fresno will be about 15 degrees above average, Macaday said — though the area will return to having highs in the mid-80s by Sunday.
