Baby product sold at Target, Amazon recalled over fire hazard

· The Fresno Bee

Getting the hang of a baby’s bedtime routine requires an insurmountable amount of patience and, let’s be honest, a lot of “this clicked, so let’s never change it” conversations.

This could be a favorite blanket, the one stuffed toy that has seen everything, a night light, or the steady hum of a white-noise machine.

And once something works, few sleep-deprived parents want to mess with it.

This makes the new recall involving a popular baby sleep machine particularly important for families to check before bedtime.

Love to Dream recalls Sleep Machines

Love to Dream is recalling about 4,000 portable white noise Sleep Machines because their lithium-ion batteries can overheat when charged with an incompatible charger.

The overheating can pose fire and burn hazards, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The recalled devices were sold for about $60 at Target and Nordstrom stores nationwide and online through Amazon, Walmart Marketplace, Babylist, Posh Mommy, and Love to Dream between February 2025 and September 2026.

Love to Dream’s own recall notice also lists The Babies Room as one of the retailers that sold the product.

Parents are urged to stop using the machine immediately.

Parents increasingly use white noise to help children sleep

Sleep machines have become a common fixture in children’s bedrooms.

The devices generate consistent background sound designed to mask sudden noises and help children settle or remain asleep.

A 2026 study of 253 parents of children aged 8 and younger who visited a pediatric ear, nose, and throat clinic found that 59.3% reported using white noise for their children.

Among those who used it, nearly 91% played white noise overnight, while the average reported exposure was 9.6 hours per day.

Parents most commonly reported using white noise to improve their child’s sleep quality and to block environmental sounds.

The study should not be interpreted as representative of all U.S. parents.

Love to Dream sleep machine includes cry detection

The recalled Love to Dream machine goes beyond basic white noise.

The heart-shaped device offers nine sleep sounds, 16 volume levels, a night light, Bluetooth connectivity, and a recording feature that lets parents record their own voices.

It also has a cry-detection function that automatically plays a selected sound when a baby cries or stirs.

Love to Dream markets the rechargeable device as providing up to 22 hours of battery life, allowing parents to use it overnight or while traveling.

The recall applies only to model LTD-SM23 with date code 7W15TN, which can be found on the side of the machine or on the back of its box.

The CPSC lists no reported incidents or injuries in its recall announcement.

Consumers should stop using affected machines immediately, unplug them, and keep them away from flammable materials.

Whether bought from a retailer or directly from the company website, users can contact Love to Dream for full refund details.

Love to Dream is offering either a $59.95 refund or $75 in store credit,

Because the device contains a lithium-ion battery, consumers are warned not to put it in household trash or curbside recycling.

No other Love to Dream product has been affected by the recall.
