McLaren will be previewing its first new model since its merger with Forseven last year to form McLaren Group Holdings, and the upcoming models to emerge from the British supercar maker by 2030 will all feature internal combustion engines, the marque has told Autocar.

McLaren Group Holdings was formed after the supercar maker’s acquisition by Abu Dhabi government-owned investment firm CYVN Holdings, which merged McLaren with Forseven, an entity owned by CYVN Holdings. CYVN has invested around 1.5 billion pounds sterling (RM8 billion) in McLaren, which enables the manufacturer to expand its product range beyond its line-up of two-seater mid-engined cars.

The brand’s future product strategy was initially to be outlined before the end of 2025, however the announcement was delayed for “strategic reasons,” McLaren Group Holdings CEO Nick Collins told the publication.

McLaren will begin to “unpack” its new plan in public from around the middle of this year, and full-sized models of every new car it plans to launch before 2030 have already been shown to dealers, suggesting several cars are in its product plan, according to the report.

“From this summer, we start to go external [with our plans], whether it’s because we’re starting to deliver W1s or because we’re showing you product,” Collins said, without elaborating on what exactly the company will be revealing this year. Autocar sources suggest that the product to be shown will not be a production model, but rather a “clear preview” of its future cars.

Collins told the publication that McLaren will launch an electric vehicle only when its customers want one, and added that “the market doesn’t want one yet”. This indicates that all of its future products in its plan to emerge by 2030 will feature internal combustion engines, though the carmaker has the flexibility to adapt should market conditions change, he said.
