PLUS expects 2.2m vehicles on highways for 2026 Hari Raya Aidiladha, Agong’s birthday, Wesak Day season
by Mick Chan · Paul Tan's Automotive NewsPLUS Malaysia has announced that it expects up to 2.2 million vehicles daily on its highway network for the upcoming festive and public holiday period of Hari Raya Aidiladha, Wesak Day, the official birthday of His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, and the mid-year school holidays in Malaysia.
The highway operator expects the East Coast Expressway 2 (LPT2) to see an increase in traffic volume of up to 50,000 vehicles daily, it said in a statement. Peak days for travel outbound from the Klang Valley are expected to be on May 22, 23, 26, 28, 29, 30 and 31, while peak days for return travel into the Klang Valley are expected to be on June 4, 5, 6 and 7.
To facilitate traffic and incident management, PLUS will activate Smart Lanes at 33 locations along its highway network to increase traffic capacity, while more than 500 PLUSRonda and LPT2Ronda personnel will be deployed for 24-hour patrol duties. Toll plazas will have all toll lanes open, while round-the-clock, real-time traffic monitoring will be carried out through its traffic monitoring centre (TMC), said PLUS Malaysia.
As before, PLUS Malaysia recommends that highway users refer to the MyPLUS-TTA digital travel schedule on the PLUS mobile app for journey planning, and follow the recommended travel times for smoother journeys and reduced traffic congestion.
PLUS Malaysia also works with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the road transport department (JPJ), the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) and related agencies to aid in providing smoother traffic flow and optimum highway safety throughout the festive season, it added.
