2026 Mercedes-Maybach S580 4Matic Night Series now in Malaysia – dark-themed ultra-luxe Z223 fr RM2.4 mil
by Gerard Lye · Paul Tan's Automotive NewsThe Mercedes-Maybach S-Class gains a new Night Series edition in Malaysia, which comes with the S580 4Matic powertrain and exclusive darkened design elements to make it stand out further. Priced at RM2,404,888 on-the-road without insurance, it is more expensive by RM209,000 compared to the “regular” Maybach S580 4Matic that currently starts from RM2,195,888.
Befitting its name, the S580 4Matic Night Series features dark shadow gloss accents on its exterior, including the front grille and bumper, Mercedes star, various bits of trim, door handles as well as the Maybach emblem on the C-pillar. You’ll also find high-gloss black finishes on the beltline, window surrounds, B-pillar and mirror housings, while the twin tailpipe trims are in dark chrome and black.
If that isn’t enough, dark metallic chrome accents are applied on the Digital Light headlamps, which also get rose gold elements. Other standout items are the illuminated door sills with ‘Maybach Night Series’ lettering and the 20-inch Maybach seven-spoke light-alloy wheels with aerodynamic elements and in a black and dark shadow gloss finish. In keeping with the theme, the key fob in high-gloss black is paired with a dark shadow gloss frame.
Customers can choose from a wide range of exterior paint finishes, including a selection of grey, black and white hues. For those who want something more distinctive, two-tone combinations such as onyx black/Mojave silver as well as Manufaktur opalite white bright/obsidian black are also available.
Moving inside, the luxurious cabin sports Nappa leather upholstery in a Black/Black Pearl colour combination that is paired with golden-grey glossy piping. The active ambient lighting also has a ‘Garnet Glow’ colour scheme for a “warm and contemporary mood,” while the dark brown open-pore walnut wood trim from the Manufaktur catalogue has a herringbone pattern.
Elsewhere, the Maybach motif is generously applied to the centre console that has a black crystal-look finish, and the air vent housings are finished in dark shadow gloss to tie everything together. Owners of the Night Series will also be greeted by a mystical start-up animation for the user interface.
With the S580 4Matic powertrain, you get a 4.0 litre biturbo V8 petrol engine that serves up a healthy 503 PS (496 hp or 370 kW) at 5,500 rpm and 700 Nm of torque from 2,000 to 4,500 rpm. This is augmented by a 48-volt EQ Boost mild hybrid system that delivers an additional 23 PS (23 hp or 17 kW) and 205 Nm.
Along with a nine-speed 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox and 4Matic all-wheel drive, the Night Series gets from 0-100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds and on to a top speed of 250 km/h. Other elements of powertrain include rear-axle steering and Airmatic air suspension system with the E-Active Body Control 48-volt active roll stabilisation.
The rest of the kit list is similar to a regular S580 4Matic, with standard features being a panoramic sliding sunroof, climatised front and rear seats, Multicontour seats, First-Class rear seating (this is a four-seater), high-pile floor mats, four-zone climate control, a 12.8-inch OLED central MBUX touchscreen, a 12.3-inch 3D-effect digital instrument cluster, rear electric sunblinds, a Qi wireless charging pads and MBUX rear seat entertainment system (touchscreens and tablet).
The premium paid for the Night Series does net you a Burmester 3D surround sound system, which is an option for the standard S580 4Matic. A full complement of airbags (14 total), the Driving Assistance package (AEB, adaptive cruise, lane centring assist and more) as well as Pre-Safe and Pre-Safe Impulse Side make up the safety and driver assistance systems.
Given the numerous customisation options available for the Maybach S-Class, which is even more exclusive in Night Series guise, all orders are on an indent basis. With personalisation options available for the exterior and interior, the final asking price can go well beyond the starting figure stated at the start.
