Here’s a full gallery of the Zeekr 009, which is currently on display at Sunway Pinnacle in Bandar Sunway, Subang Jaya. Though not officially launched yet, the order books for the fully electric MPV are currently open with an estimated starting price below RM370k.

The latest 009 is a premium offering that looks to compete against the petrol-powered Toyota Alphard and Vellfire, both of which occupy a smaller footprint than the Zeekr model. Bringing out the numbers, the 009 measures 5,209 mm long, 2,024 mm wide, 1,848 mm tall and with a wheelbase of 3,205 mm, which makes it about 200 mm longer overall, 174 mm wider and with a wheelbase advantage of 205 mm by comparison.

The Alphard and Vellfire retail for RM538,000 and RM438,000 respectively, which makes the 009 – at its indicative price – RM168k less than the Alphard and RM68k less when compared to the Vellfire. Worth considering?

We’re getting the 009 in two variants that appear to be nearly identical in terms of specifications, with the only difference being the number of ‘Sofaro’ seats. You get seven seats with the Luxury variant arranged in a 2+2+3 layout, while the Ultra Luxury comes with six seats in a 2+2+2 arrangement – Nappa leather upholstered is standard.

Both get executive seats in the second row, although the ones in the Luxury aren’t as wide in order to accommodate a passthrough aisle as an extra means of getting to the third row. The front- and second-row seats are power adjustable and come with massage as well as ventilation functions for all variants. Exclusive to the Ultra Luxury’s executive seats are built-in tray tables that can be folded away, along with a control panel hidden under the outermost armrest.

Other creature comforts on both variants include touch panels on the power-sliding doors for quick access to the door and climate controls, a refrigerator, a panoramic sunroof, a ceiling-mounted 17-inch OLED display (with remote control) and a second-row camera in case you want to make a video call or observe your passengers.

For those at the front, there’s a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.05-inch OLED touchscreen, while the high centre console houses a 50W wireless charging pad. There’s also a 39.95-inch augmented reality-enabled head-up display, telematics with a companion app and a 30-speaker Yamaha sound system.

In terms of the powertrain, the 009 gets a dual-motor setup rated at 612 PS (603 hp or 450 kW) and 693 Nm of torque and will get from 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. The motors are powered by a nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery with an energy capacity of 116 kWh, which is good for a WLTP-rated range of up to 582 km.

AC charging at a peak input of 11 kW is supported, as is DC fast charging at a max capacity of 150 kW, the latter capable of getting the battery from a 10-80% state of charge in just 30 minutes. An air suspension system is standard across the board.

On the safety front, the MPV comes with seven airbags, a 360-degree camera and a digital video recorder, while driver assistance systems that are standard include front and rear collision mitigation support, adaptive cruise control, lane centring control, lane keep assist, automatic lane change, traffic sign recognition, driver monitoring, automatic parking assist and autonomous emergency braking (even during parking).

Lastly, colours. Three options are offered, namely Phantom Black, Electric Blue and Crystal White, all of which are available for both variants. Interior colours include Black as well as two-tone Midnight Blue/Polar White and Stone Grey/Polar White schemes.

Given the specifications and equipment on offer, is the 009 a compelling buy over the Alphard and Vellfire, or do you have something else in mind? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
