One of Warframe's most beloved quests is getting a sequel, and there's two new Protoframes in it for you
Warframe Jade Shadows Constellations is a sequel to the popular 2024 quest, and Digital Extremes has revealed plenty more exciting content.
by Aaron Down · PCGamesNWarframe developer Digital Extremes has a penchant for flashy reveals, and it's gone all out in its latest dev stream for the reveal of its next major update: Jade Shadows Constellations. Serving as a sequel to the original Jade Shadows quest, Constellations is set to reveal what's become of Sirius and Orion when it arrives this June. You'll also be able to recruit the two new Protoframes for Ash and Garuda, Ryoku and Vena, through completing their new Railjack missions and earning their trust. Mesa's Heirloom skin, meanwhile, is getting an update to add some extra rootin', tootin' goodness.
During the stream, Warframe Creative Director Rebecca Ford offered the following description for the multiplayer game's upcoming update: "Eternalism. The future. A future where the son who was not chosen lives in a doomed reality where all is lost to madness. Their only option is to come back to find Stalker, the father. But there is only one Stalker. Future Sirius and Future Orion fight with their mentors at their side to capture Stalker to bring him to their future."
The original Jade Shadows arrived back in 2024, quickly becoming a fan-favorite. If you haven't played through it yet, then you'll want to get some questing time in, as clearing it is a requirement for accessing Constellations. DE once again teamed up with animation studio The Line to create dual-perspective shorts for Orion and Sirius, scored by progressive metalcore group Erra. As you'll see below, they absolutely slap.
Fighting alongside the two sons are mentors Ryoku and Vena. DE says the pair will come with their own Gemini Emotes, but unfortunately, you won't be able to work your romancing magic on them, nor will they have a KIM system. After clearing Constellations, you can head over to the Uranus Proxima to complete Ryoku and Vena's Railjack missions, adding them to your crew in the process.
Mesa Heirloom is certainly one of the showier Warframe skins, but the studio's crackshot didn't quite hit the mark. To add a little more yeehaw flair, DE has given her a fancy new duster and a cowboy hat Signa. Though a date for the Mesa Heirloom update hasn't been set in concrete just yet, the studio says it'll be sometime around TennoCon, so we're expecting early-mid July.
Elsewhere in the update, Dante's getting a feathery new Tytonis skin, five new Incarnons are en route, and Nidus is getting some much-needed love. There's also a suite of quality-of-life updates coming, including improvements to knockdown feel, DoT effects appearing on health bars, a tweak to companions that now awards both of you XP if you both hit an enemy, and a re-balancing of Junction bosses.
All in all, it's a very exciting update, so make sure you get yourself up to snuff before Constellations drop this June. The Operation Belly of the Beast clan event is set to return on May 4, sporting new rewards, so that could serve as the perfect launchpad back into Warframe if you haven't touched it in a while. If that's the case, you'll also want to catch up on the latest Warframe codes, as you may be missing out on some cosmetic freebies.
