Where do you get the Apostate Key in Silksong? So, you've made it out of The Slab, but you're not satisfied. There are still doors to be opened in the slammer, and you're still missing the final key to the prison's puzzle. You've taken the Bellway back, scoured every inch of the available area, and have nothing but a couple of extra deaths on the counter to show for it. Well, you see, that's because the Apostate key is nowhere near it.

Hollow Knight Silksong is incredibly non-linear. Staking its claim as one of the best Metroidvania games, you'll find yourself revisiting multiple locations on the Silksong map as you make your way through Pharloom. The hunt for the Apostate Key, for example, will bring you to the Putrified Ducts, though you'll have to progress further into the game before you can get there.

The Silksong Apostate Key is found in the Putrified Ducts, accessible from either Bilewater or Memorium, depending on how far you've progressed. Regardless of which route you take, you'll need to have unlocked the double jump (Faydown Cloak) to make the higher hops en route.

The earliest avenue to the key starts at the bench in Bilewater's main Silksong boss arena. From there, head left into the next area, before scaling the spike-riddled vertical section. Now in the Putrified Ducts, continue your ascent, hooking a left while whacking the tentacles belonging to the bugs embedded in the ceiling. Once you've reached a broken cage with a glowing light inside, strike it until it yields the Apostate Key.

The second route has you begin your journey in The Citadel, taking you through Memorium. It's a longer slog, but the upsides are that you don't have to go through Bilewater, and you can find the region's Bellway as soon as you reach the main vertical section. The only thing worth noting here is that, as marked on the map with a flower, there's a hidden passage above the right-most wall in one of the connecting areas that you'll have to first break to gain access.

With the Key of Apostate now in hand, you're ready to head back to The Slab. If you head west from the Citadel Spa, you can even find The Slab map on the way through.
