DBD’s freaky new skin collection inspired by horror manga icon Junji Ito

With eight skins in total, the Dead By Daylight Junji Ito skin collection looks to be one of the best the horror game has seen in ages.

As we all know by now, Dead By Daylight is no stranger to crossovers – and the vast majority of the time, it absolutely nails them too. Well, another has just been unveiled, and it revolves around the disturbing works of a horror manga legend – take a look at this amazing DBD Junji Ito skin collection.

While many of the asymmetrical horror game’s crossovers take the form of entirely new playable characters (I’m still not totally over the fact that Nicolas Cage is running around as a survivor), Dead By Daylight also loves to honor other IP with skin collections. Today, alongside flaunting some new DnD-inspired skins, Behavior Interactive has unveiled a brand new collection featuring some of the most freaky and haunting characters from Junji Ito’s back catalog.

The revered manga artist is responsible for famous works such as Tomie, and an anime anthology series of his creations was also put out on Crunchyroll in 2018. Now, eight of Ito’s most iconic characters are coming to Dead By Daylight – two in the form of Legendary skins with unique audio recordings, and six other Very Rare-tier skins.

The two legendaries have been bestowed on the killers The Artist and The Spirit. The Artist will be starring as Miss Fuchi from Ito’s Fashion Model manga. With a freakishly long neck, spine-tingling cackle, and blood-drenched blade, she looks and sounds absolutely amazing.

Then The Spirit takes on the form of arguably Ito’s most famous character, Tomie. Inspired by her appearance in the story of Painter, she is possessed by a dark alternate version of herself that presents itself as a second demonic face protruding from her own.

As for the Very Rare skins, they are spread across both killers and survivors, and while they look great, they don’t have the specially-recorded audio that Miss Fuchi and Tomie do. The Trickster, The Dredge, The Twins, Yui Kimura, Yun-Jin Lee, and Kate Denson are the beneficiaries of these Very Rare skins.

The Junji Ito Collection will arrive in Dead By Daylight on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.

However, to pass the time, there’s a whole lot of newness in today’s big DBD update. Two new characters enter the game in The Houndmaster, a canine-wielding killer, and Tauri Cain, the “morally darkest” survivor in DBD history, according to Behavior.
